Mr Ben Burston
CONSULTANT TRAUMA AND ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON
Mr Ben Burston
Ben qualified from the University of Bristol in 2000 with Honours in Medicine and a 1st class honours degree in Anatomical Sciences.
He has been a revision Hip and Knee consultant surgeon since 2013, at the world-renowned Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Specialist Orthopaedic Hospital, in Oswestry, and at the Nuffield Hospital in Shrewsbury.
Ben currently sits on the British Hip Society national advisory panel for the development of revision hip networks. He is a member of the national clinical phage network for bone and joint infection.
Ben is widely published in peer review journals, with over 30 articles, mainly in the field of hip replacement surgery. He has presented at multiple international and national conferences. He is the local principal investigator in numerous national research trials.
Ben co-chairs the Infection and the Revision-hip Multi-Disciplinary Teams at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.
He enjoys teaching, serving as faculty on many national and international courses and has a Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Bristol.
In 2019, Ben was selected as the sole British representative for the American Hip Society prestigious Rothman-Ranawat travelling fellowship. This six-week venture took him to 10 centres of excellence across North America. Here he was able to interact and share knowledge with some of the world’s most prominent specialists in adult joint reconstruction, further developing his practice. He lectured in each site on some of his work covering prosthetic joint infection.
Ben was one of the senior authors of a landmark randomised control trial, run in Oswestry (published in 2023), demonstrating the superiority of focused shockwave therapy over steroid injections for lateral hip pain.

Karen Burston
CLINIC MANAGER AND REGISTERED NURSE
Karen is a Registered Nurse who graduated with a Critical Care Nursing degree from Oxford in 2005. Her diverse experience includes clinical roles in operating theatres, trauma and orthopaedics, cardio-thoracic intensive care, and overseas practice in New Zealand.
After working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Uro-oncology in Bristol, she moved to the Shropshire countryside to raise a family and two mischievous spaniels. In recent times, she completed a return to nursing course at Chester University and contributed to the COVID-19 vaccination programme.
Rachel Lindop
PHYSIOTHERAPIST AT TOTAL PHYSIO ON BEHALF OF PURE FOCUS CLINIC
Rachel qualified as a
physiotherapist from Coventry University in 2018. She currently balances her busy work at Total Physio with her NHS role at the specialist orthopaedic hospital, The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, in Oswestry. She has vast
experience from her work within the UK and abroad, of treating a variety of musculoskeletal and
rheumatological conditions,
including post operative
rehabilitation.
Rachel can also use hydrotherapy as a treatment modality and is a qualified Pilates instructor. She has undertaken advanced training in focused and radial shockwave therapy. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, travelling and anything
outdoors.
Will Cole
PHYSIOTHERAPIST AT TOTAL PHYSIO ON BEHALF OF PURE FOCUS CLINIC
Will graduated from Brunel
University London in 2017 having completed a degree in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Birmingham in 2013.
He also balances his private work at Total Physio with his NHS role at Powys Teaching Health Board,
where he works as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in local GP practices and specialist
musculoskeletal clinics. His early career was spent at leading specialist centre, The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital. Will has a wealth of experience of working within professional sport and rheumatology, as well as in private practice within the UK and Australia. He successfully completed advanced training in focused and radial shockwave therapy.
Away from work you are most likely to find him on the golf course.
Holly
ADMIN SUPPORT
Holly is a lively 6-year-old
working cocker spaniel with no formal training or boundaries but excels at touch typing.
She loves chasing sticks and is an expert at stealing everyone else’s food.
